Physician-owned independence & integrity
ArkMedis is physician-owned. Clinical accountability sits with our MD Medical Director. Integrity and clinical independence are foundational: reviewers evaluate medical necessity and appropriateness of care based on the clinical record and applicable standards — not on volume, relationship pressure, or case outcome incentives. Organizational processes protect independence and document the basis for each determination. We operate as an independent clinical review organization and do not claim nonprofit status.

HIPAA BAAs & PHI gate
Conflict-of-interest screening is part of how we assign and document reviews. Google Workspace HIPAA BAA and Google Cloud HIPAA BAA are both held. Electronic case records and the secure portal are designed around Google Cloud (US). Portal sign-in requires MFA (verified email and a second factor). Secure case upload is available for authorized portal users (Business, Provider, and Admin) after MFA: a verified email and a second factor, with an authenticator preferred and US SMS supported. ArkMedis will review and process submitted cases after Texas Department of Insurance Independent Review Organization certification is issued. The application is filed and in process. Certification is not active. Send case PHI only through the portal vault. Do not send PHI by email or fax. Download of stored files is not available yet.

Texas TDI IRO pathway
ArkMedis is a Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Independent Review Organization applicant — an honest operational fact reflected on this site. We do not claim “certified IRO” status until certification is actually held.
Leadership
ArkMedis is led by a President and a Medical Director. Clinical review is performed by board-certified physicians. Role descriptions are on Leadership.
What we do not claim
We do not display URAC, HITRUST, NCQA, NAIRO, SOC 2, or “certified IRO” badges — and we do not use “pursuing” language for those credentials on the public site. Trust signals are limited to facts we can defend today: physician-owned IRO, specialty-matched reviewers (building network), conflict-of-interest screening, Houston primary office, Texas IRO applicant (TDI pathway), Workspace and Cloud HIPAA BAAs held, MFA required for portal sessions, and a portal that is not yet accepting PHI.
